How long does an Airbnb cleaning take?

An Airbnb cleaning takes 2 to 3 hours for a one bedroom and 4 to 5 hours for a five bedroom, and four and five bedroom homes get two cleaners so the clock does not double.

Those are Ready Rental Cleaning’s scheduled windows across the Los Angeles service area, roughly 20 miles around Calabasas. A deep clean is longer: 4 to 5 hours for a one bedroom, 5 to 6 hours for a five bedroom.

Hours by property size

Time on site is what you care about, because that is the window the property is unavailable. Man-hours are crew size times that window, and they are the reason a five bedroom is more work than a three bedroom even when it is on site for a similar stretch.

2 BRUp to 1,250 sqft13 to 4 hours3 to 4 man-hours

4 BRUp to 2,200 sqft23 to 4 hours6 to 8 man-hours
5 BRUp to 3,000 sqft24 to 5 hours8 to 10 man-hours

Properties of six bedrooms and larger are walked in person first, and the team size and the window are fixed in writing before the first clean.

Why a five bedroom is not five times a one bedroom

Because we add people rather than hours. A one, two or three bedroom is one cleaner working through the property room by room. A four or five bedroom gets two cleaners who split the floor, which is why a five bedroom is on site 4 to 5 hours instead of the eight or nine hours one person would need.

That matters most on a same-day flip. The window between a checkout and the next check-in is fixed, and the only lever that fits a large property into it is crew size.

Our own scheduling numbers for a standard Airbnb clean: 3 to 4 hr (1 cleaner) or 2 to 2.5 hr (2 cleaners). For a deep clean: 5 to 6 hr (1 cleaner, 1-2 BR only) or 4 to 5 hr (2 cleaners, recommended).

Deep clean hours by property size

A deep clean is the full reset: everything in a standard clean plus the oven, the fridge, walls, vents, grout and cabinets. It is the right call for a first clean, a property that has been sitting empty, or a recovery after a long stay.

What makes a clean run longer

Laundry done on site

Washing and drying the used sheets and towels at the property adds a full machine cycle to the visit, and the crew works around it rather than through it. Hosts who stock spare sets skip that wait entirely.

Extra bathrooms

Bathrooms carry more labor per square foot than any other room. A three bedroom with three bathrooms takes longer than a three bedroom with two, even though the bedroom count is the same.

The state the guest left it in

A normal checkout and a party checkout are not the same job. Heavy soil, spills that have set, or trash left through the whole home push the visit toward the top of its range or into a deep clean.

Add-ons you booked

Inside the oven, inside the fridge, a patio or balcony, a grill, or a fireplace each add their own block of time on top of the standard clean, which is why they are quoted separately.

Pets in the property

Pet hair means a second vacuum pass on soft surfaces, and it hides in places a normal pass does not reach. It is time, not difficulty, and it is predictable once we know about it.

A first clean or a home that sat empty

A property we have not cleaned before, or one that has been empty for weeks, is a deep clean rather than a standard one, and that is 4 to 5 hours for a one bedroom instead of 2 to 3 hours.

None of these change what you pay on the day. The price is flat by property size, and anything beyond the standard clean is quoted and approved before the crew starts it.

Fitting the clean into a same-day flip

Say your checkout is 11 AM and your next check-in is 3 PM. That is a four hour window, and it is the number that decides whether a same-day booking is safe to accept.

A one bedroom at 2 to 3 hours leaves room to spare. A three bedroom at 4 to 5 hours uses most of it. A four bedroom at 3 to 4 hours fits because two cleaners are on it. A five bedroom at 4 to 5 hours is tight, and if your window cannot hold it we say so when you book rather than at 2:45 PM.

Booking the clean the moment the reservation lands, instead of the night before, is what keeps the window workable. Same-day requests are taken when a crew is free, and the calendar fills first on weekends.

Where the hours actually go

A one bedroom Airbnb clean is 113+ tasks per cleaning, and the count climbs with every extra bedroom and bathroom. The cleaner works a fixed room order in an app, checks off each task, and photographs every room before and after. The job cannot be submitted with anything unchecked, so the hours are the list, not an estimate.

Common questions

How long does an Airbnb cleaning take?

A 1 br takes 2 to 3 hours, A 2 br takes 3 to 4 hours, A 3 br takes 4 to 5 hours, A 4 br takes 3 to 4 hours, A 5 br takes 4 to 5 hours. Four and five bedroom homes are cleaned by two people, so the clock stays close to a three bedroom instead of doubling.

Does a bigger property take twice as long?

No. We add a cleaner instead of adding hours. A three bedroom is one cleaner for 4 to 5 hours, and a five bedroom is two cleaners for 4 to 5 hours, which is more total labor but a shorter window at the property.

How long does a deep clean take?

A deep clean runs 4 to 5 hours for a one bedroom up to 5 to 6 hours for a five bedroom with two cleaners. It is the right call for a first clean, a property that has sat empty, or a reset after a long stay, and it covers the oven, the fridge, walls, vents, grout and cabinets on top of the standard list.

Can you clean between an 11 AM checkout and a 3 PM check-in?

That is a four hour window. A one, two or three bedroom fits inside it, and a four bedroom fits because two cleaners bring it to 3 to 4 hours. A five bedroom runs 4 to 5 hours, so a same-day flip is tight, and we tell you that before you book rather than after.

Do I pay more if the clean runs long?

No. The price is flat by property size, so a clean that runs to the top of its range costs the same as one that finishes early. If a property needs work beyond the standard clean, such as a deep clean after a party, you hear the number and approve it before the crew does it.

When do I know the clean is finished?

Before and after photos of every room are texted within 30 minutes of the crew finishing, so you can see the property is guest ready without driving to it.

Why does it take that long?

Because the list is long. A one bedroom Airbnb clean is 113+ tasks per cleaning, room by room, and every one of them is checked off in the cleaner app before the job can be submitted.
