Time on site is what you care about, because that is the window the property is unavailable. Man-hours are crew size times that window, and they are the reason a five bedroom is more work than a three bedroom even when it is on site for a similar stretch.

Why a five bedroom is not five times a one bedroom
Because we add people rather than hours. A one, two or three bedroom is one cleaner working through the property room by room. A four or five bedroom gets two cleaners who split the floor, which is why a five bedroom is on site 4 to 5 hours instead of the eight or nine hours one person would need.
That matters most on a same-day flip. The window between a checkout and the next check-in is fixed, and the only lever that fits a large property into it is crew size.

What makes a clean run longer
Laundry done on site
Washing and drying the used sheets and towels at the property adds a full machine cycle to the visit, and the crew works around it rather than through it. Hosts who stock spare sets skip that wait entirely.
Extra bathrooms
Bathrooms carry more labor per square foot than any other room. A three bedroom with three bathrooms takes longer than a three bedroom with two, even though the bedroom count is the same.
The state the guest left it in
A normal checkout and a party checkout are not the same job. Heavy soil, spills that have set, or trash left through the whole home push the visit toward the top of its range or into a deep clean.
Add-ons you booked
Inside the oven, inside the fridge, a patio or balcony, a grill, or a fireplace each add their own block of time on top of the standard clean, which is why they are quoted separately.
Pets in the property
Pet hair means a second vacuum pass on soft surfaces, and it hides in places a normal pass does not reach. It is time, not difficulty, and it is predictable once we know about it.

A property we have not cleaned before, or one that has been empty for weeks, is a deep clean rather than a standard one, and that is 4 to 5 hours for a one bedroom instead of 2 to 3 hours.
None of these change what you pay on the day. The price is flat by property size, and anything beyond the standard clean is quoted and approved before the crew starts it.
Fitting the clean into a same-day flip
Say your checkout is 11 AM and your next check-in is 3 PM. That is a four hour window, and it is the number that decides whether a same-day booking is safe to accept.
A one bedroom at 2 to 3 hours leaves room to spare. A three bedroom at 4 to 5 hours uses most of it. A four bedroom at 3 to 4 hours fits because two cleaners are on it. A five bedroom at 4 to 5 hours is tight, and if your window cannot hold it we say so when you book rather than at 2:45 PM.
